CHARACTERS] can be fictional, or it can be a real person.
Their consistency is that they can all, at the subconscious level, invade our consciousness.
For a period of time, we will have a segment of behavior, awareness, habits belonging to that [CHARACTER].
Example: the accent of a movie character, a friend’s catchphrase, the small habits of people around us.
But this kind of change is not lasting.
When we stay away from the [CHARACTER] for a period of time, the change disappears.
This is called invasive change.
The reason it disappears is that we have not gone through the main consciousness’s (Choice).
⸻
(Choice) is the active acceptance of a [CHARACTER].
When our main consciousness is focusing on a [CHARACTER], we will experience an important and rare moment.
When we encounter an important [CHARACTER], our main consciousness will carry out a behavior called (Choice), that is, whether to accept this [CHARACTER]’s consciousness.
If we choose not to accept, then this [CHARACTER] will not produce any change to the main consciousness.
If we choose to accept, we will experience three important stages:
Become the [CHARACTER]
Merge into the main consciousness
Enter latent state
⸻
Become the [CHARACTER]
This is the behavior after our main consciousness chooses to accept.
After a period of time, our behavior changes into the character’s behavior and motivation.
The third-person perspective completely becomes the [CHARACTER].
That is, our actions and the observation 👀 in our brain of “me in this moment within space and time” becomes the appearance of the [CHARACTER].
Our thinking pattern will also become similar to the character’s thinking pattern.
⸻
Merge into the main consciousness
After a period of time, the [CHARACTER] fades away.
Our main consciousness gradually merges with the character.
The [CHARACTER] becomes a part of our main consciousness and changes a part of the main consciousness.
It can be life trajectory, choice, goal.
⸻
Latent state
After entering the main consciousness, the [CHARACTER] will enter a kind of latent mode, but can appear in the third-person perspective of the main consciousness at any time.
And the switching in the third-person perspective can be a rapid conversion among different latent [CHARACTERS].
Entering the main consciousness while appearing together with other [CHARACTERS] in a unified state.
At this time, the main consciousness and the [CHARACTER] are in an integrated state.
It can also be said that different characters compose the main consciousness.
⸻
Conclusion, I
The main consciousness is actually a subject that, at different times and stages, records growth through a third-person perspective.
Most of the time, it is the main consciousness’s record of its own appearance and behavior.
This can explain why trauma or PTSD exists.
Because our brain records the self at the moment when a major event happens, and that self also becomes a [CHARACTER].
This character will also exist in our main consciousness, and due to its latent nature, it can suddenly appear in the main consciousness at different times.
And because of the negative impact of this [Self-CHARACTER], it often damages the main consciousness.
PTSD, trauma.
⸻
At the same time, important [CHARACTERS] will appear in our life.
Characters, as something merged into our main consciousness, influence us.
After the appearance of a [CHARACTER], we will no longer only possess a [Self-CHARACTER], but become a consciousness where “me and the character” exist simultaneously at the level of consciousness.
In the third-person perspective, we can continuously switch.
⸻
[Future Self] is also a [CHARACTER].
The future self is a kind of speculation by the present main consciousness about the future [Self-CHARACTER].
It is often combined with the main consciousness’s current experience and goals, and often influences a person’s life trajectory.
But the difference is that the [Future Self] does not have the ability to affect the current third-person perspective.
It can be said that the future self is a speculative character, because its time stage has not yet happened.
⸻
So this explains that my own existence is the fusion of constantly appearing and disappearing [Self-CHARACTERS] and [CHARACTERS], and it must be established on the basis of time and space.
⸻
Similar to a ship sailing in the sea, the Ship of Theseus.
The beginning Ship of Theseus and the ending Ship of Theseus are both the Ship of Theseus.
The parts constantly replaced during the voyage are the [CHARACTERS] we constantly lose and collect.
The ship body repaired at every moment of time and space is our [Self-CHARACTER].
⸻
The Ship of Theseus is a subject established under time and space.
The replaced new ship body is compared to [CHARACTERS].
The lost old ship body is compared to the lost [CHARACTERS].
And the repaired ship is the [Self-CHARACTER] under that moment of time and space.
⸻
So this problem explains the Ship of Theseus paradox.
That is: if someone collects the old ship body and rebuilds a ship again, which ship is the Ship of Theseus?
Now we call the ship rebuilt with old parts the old ship, and the sailing ship the new ship.
⸻
The paradox is because Theseus stood on the old ship and gave the old ship parts meaning, so the old ship should be the Ship of Theseus.
The parts of the new ship have never been stepped on by Theseus, so the new ship is not the Ship of Theseus.
⸻
But the subject of the Ship of Theseus is a continuous subject existing within time.
Time gives meaning to the Ship of Theseus.
Every new part installed on the new ship is given meaning by the main ship body and time.
Because they compose the new [Self-CHARACTER], that is, the new ship body of the next second.
Each second the ship has loss and acquisition at the level of consciousness.
So every part leaving the new ship body loses the meaning certification of being the Ship of Theseus.
⸻
Conclusion:
The Ship of Theseus rebuilt from old parts, although stepped on by Theseus, all parts have lost the meaning认证 of the Ship of Theseus.
Therefore, the old ship body is not the Ship of Theseus.
⸻
We are each a Ship of Theseus sailing in the sea.
